Floored with Dhoti pants, skirts ~

Yes, dhoti pants have made an exciting comeback and are here to stay, say experts. JT shows you how to look ravishing in a flattering dhoti pant with just the right fit and drape.
Says fashion designer Rina Dhaka, "Dhoti pants are definitely in and I would like to see more people wearing them. I would recommend wearing these like the way they were worn in late '80s – with a very short kurti or the way the Haryanvi woman wear them. They are best for a relaxed, semi-formal evening and the ideal length is a little above the ankles. The ideal fabric would be muslin or a blend of cotton and silk as it gives you a nice drape."
According to Mandira Wirk, the trend is here to stay. "Dhoti pants originated from India and have become a rage the world over. They suit the Indian body types. They are very trendy and comfortable and look sexy when teamed with a tight fitted top. You can also wear them with a short kurti with detailing or a fitted and cropped jacket. Accessorise them with funky belts and wear them with juttis or kolhapuri chappals," suggests Mandira. For dhoti pants, she suggests a fabric that has a good fall. "Go for georgette, crepe or light weight silk. Plain material in a solid colour looks nice as it helps the drape of the fabric come out. Keep the dhoti pant simple and pair it up with a printed or textured top."
Designer Puja Arya suggests wearing a body hugging tee with dhoti pants for a fusion look. "Wear some light jewellery, nice danglers and funky belts to complete the look," says Puja.
